Northwest from Aalen at the foot of the Ostalb lies a hilly region known as the “Welland”. It reminds one of the morainic Allgaeu region, with its fir-crowned crests, wavy hills and scattered pastures and farms.
In the middle of these valley hollows and airy heights lies Dewangen (465 meters over sea level, covering 1654 hectares).
