The Eastern Swabian Mountains (Schwäbische Ostalb) - An Ideal Hiking Area
(© Stadt Aalen)

The Eastern Swabian Mountains are an ideal hiking area that can be explored by 27 described tours which take the hiker through all the different landscapes of the region: along the historic Roman border wall “Limes” or up to the “Härtsfeld”, through the forests of the Ellwangen lake district or to the Ries crater - caused by a meteorite in western Bavaria. Hikers can choose their tours by taste or endurance and families will also find interesting routes for kids. The map (in German) provides in-depth tour descriptions featuring trail length, walking time, sightseeing highlights and dining options. The map also suggests several multi-day hikes and a hiking week, which can also be booked as a “non-baggage” package. 23 hotels and guesthouses provide accommodations meeting all your requirements. And for a happy sing along during your hikes, a free songbook with popular hiking songs is also provided.

The map can be obtained from the Aalen Tourist Information and costs 4.00 Euro.
