Hofen, along with its own suburbs of Goldshöfe, Heimatsmühle, Oberalfingen and Wagenrain, covers an area of 1260 hectares. Included in this area is the landscape conservation area "Hügelland um Hofen" and the nature preserve "Goldshöfer Sande". The topography is varied, and ranges in height from 440 meters (at the "Heimatsmühle ") up to 703 meters (at "Grünenberg "). Apart from the increasing relevance and popularity as housing location, agriculture still plays a meaningful role. An expanded network of hiking trails and bicycle paths, with many delightful sites and lookout points, make Hofen a valuable suburb of Aalen.
