Education for sustainable development is intended to impart the skills needed to shape a future worth living. For this, experience-oriented elements such as events and extracurricular places of learning play an important role. As SDG4.7, Education for Sustainable Development is one of UNESCO's Sustainable Development Goals.
The Aalen Sustainability Trail was developed by Aalen University and the agenda group for education for sustainable development (EDS) as the KARN (Kocher-Aal-Rombach Sustainability Trail). The project was awarded as part of the UNESCO Decade of ESD.
